Projects undertaken within the NHS that are not classified as research, such as clinical audit or service evaluation, will not require ethical review but will need to meet any governance approvals required by the Trust/organisation for that type of work. It can sometimes be difficult to decide whether you are undertaking research, clinical audit or service evaluation. But before you start the process however, make sure your research is actually research.
